Am I right or am I right?

Posted on: June 20, 2008 1:01 am

I posted this thread back in March when I knew the Blue Jays would be nothing again this year. They're actually below what I predicted, a 77 to 85 win total. RIght now (on the morning of June 20th) they're last in the AL East at 35-39, which means they are on pace for a final record of 76-86.

I would like an appology from all those stupid Jays fans who critized my baseball IQ, and insulted me personally because they couldn't handle the truth (mainly VCarter's brother, billyisgone).

Now, bask in my greatness and read.........

Am I right or am I right?

I remember reading this thread back when. I didn't post back then but I did agree with alot of what you had to say.

But alot of what you said was incorrect as well. You laughed at the dude that said be worried about the Rays. You said Rios was the most consistent hitter the Jays have....etc... So while your prediction seems to be pretty dead on right now (never gloat until you KNOW you're right) You still had some things in the thread you said that were incorrect. The Jays stink and are going to have to rebuild that offence before they are going to compete again. So it looks like we'll be waiting around for another rebuilding project as even the Rays have passed us. ***sigh***

One thing I really do agree with you on is the blind optimism. It's crazy to think this team was built to make the playoffs. I had some hope the Yanks would faulter and our pitching would carry the team and maybe we could slide in but I didn't really believe it. It's kind of like the Leafs in Toronto. They are always a contender to some of these guys.

Am I right or am I right?

Yes, the Rays I was dead wrong. While I did expect them to be improved, I still thought we would finish in 3rd, and Tampa in 4th but not that far behind. Either way, I'll be rooting for them down the stretch to overtake the big boys.

As for Rios, he has struggled this year, but I believe he is hitting around .375 since Gaston took over (that was as of Sunday). I do think by the time September comes, he will be the best hitter on the team again. Needs to get his power stoke going though, compared to the last 2 seasons, his HR total is a joke right now.

Speaking of the Leafs, I'm don't follow hockey, but all my friends do and they all love the Leafs. Tell me how after 2 days of free agency, I'm already hearing about not just playoffs, but winning the division. Is there some sort of problem with the air down here that makes people think so unrealistically? I mean, I love the Raps and am really excited for this upcoming season, but I'm not stupid enough to think they're going to take over Boston in the division or something.

In conclusion, the reason I made this blog is to give those who personally insulted me about my prediction a chance to applogize. Obviously, everyone has different opinions and no matter what, someone will always disagree with you. But to say some of the things those people said is uncalled for.

Ok. I understand more now what the Blog was for. Not to have people apologize for their disagreements but for the dudes that ripped you to come back and maybe show some class.... Good Luck!!

As for the Leafs, I can't even imagine how anyone could think they are going to do anything this season. CRAZY!!!

I like the Raps and if ONeal is healthy we should have a good season. But I agree, there is no way to over take Boston right now. Unless of course an injury strikes.
